It looks like Monster Hunter World is getting into a late Halloween spirit with its next Capcom crossover. Leon, Claire, Mr. X, a host of zombies and more are coming to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne in November, bringing the Remake's creepy vibes to hunters everywhere.
In what can best be described as a fever dream of a trailer, Capcom starts off showing Leon and Claire roaming the recognizable landscape of the "New World." They recreate the opening moments of Resident Evil 2 when the two meet, doing the entire "don't shoot-duck" routine with a giant monster.
From there it only gets weirder, with new weapons and special cosmetics appearing. The two stumble upon a replica of the Raccoon City Police Station, before being swarmed by zombified hunters. And then, he shows up. Mr. Freakin' X, strolling into the log cabin and checking on some stew.
I've yet to play the Remake myself, but even I cannot deny how good this crossover is. It makes absolutely zero sense, and acknowledges how weird it is. The entire section with zombie hunters dancing the Definitely Not Thriller dance and Mr. X sharing a moment with Leon is like Capcom's way of winking at the camera. It's fantastic.
We'll learn more about this, including a release date and whether it's Iceborne-specific or available to all Monster Hunter: World players, over the coming days. At least now I'll finally be able to brazenly Clutch Claw myself onto a Banbaro as the hulking Mr. X, a thing I never knew I needed until today.
