Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Shows Off New Monsters in State of Play Trailer, And a Release Date, Too

Winter has come to Monster Hunter World.

Today's PlayStation State of Play livestream gave us another look at Monster Hunter World's upcoming Iceborne expansion. Players will be able to start hunting again when the expansion drops on September 9 for PS4 and Xbox One.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne got its first gameplay trailer today. Along with the snowy new environments, we got a glimpse of some of the new gameplay and, of course, monsters. Check out the trailer below.

Given the name, the snow plays a big part in Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Creatures can bury under the snow as if it were water, and players can get bogged down if the snowpack is too high. You'll need to use your grappling hook to cover the distance between you and the monster quickly, without having to traverse the snow.

There are snow sharks, some kind of bull, and a new Elder Dragon called Velkhana. There are also some new abilities on display in the trailer as well. Palicos can now apparently revive players with some kind of gel, though it's unclear how the full mechanic will work in the game.

A more detailed Monster Hunter World Iceborne livestream is set to begin at 4 P.M. PT/7 P.M. ET on Capcom's Twitch channel so check it out there for more Iceborne reveals. We also have a Monster Hunter World Iceborne guide for more coverage.

While Monster Hunter World Iceborne is set for a September 9 release on consoles, a PC release is scheduled for a more vague "this winter" release window.
