More Info Surfaces About Rumored Mario RPG and Rabbids Crossover
Like it or not, the RPG team-up between Mario and Ubisoft's Rabbids is looking more and more like a real thing.
RPGs based around Super Mario are always big news. If the rumors are true about the next Mario-based RPG, there's going to be a lot of buzz, and not all of it will be good.
There's been some murmuring about how the next Mario RPG title will co-star Ubisoft's Rabbids – the wild-eyed screaming bunnies born of the Rayman franchise. Those mutterings got a little louder earlier today, as Kotaku says it has assets for the game.
Kotaku can't share the assets, but it dribbled some significant information about the crossover. The game, reportedly titled "Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle," is scheduled to hit the Nintendo Switch in August or September. It allegedly stars Mario, his pals, and four Rabbids dressed as Mario, Yoshi, Peach, and Luigi. It's supposed to be turn-based, features two-player local co-op, and has a "goofy sense of humor."
We'll almost certainly learn more about Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle at E3 2017, if not sooner. It might be a tough sell, as the Rabbids generally don't have an audience with anyone above the age of 10, but maybe Mario's presence will temper the Rabbids' antics.
