The Nintendo Switch has had no shortage of Picross options, and another is making its way onto the system next week. Picross S4, the latest Picross game from Jupiter, is coming to Nintendo Switch as a digital download on April 23, 2020.
This iteration of Picross boasts a total of 485 puzzles to solve across standard rules, as well as Mega, Color, and Clip Picross variants. The variation in how many puzzles you might be able to play comes in the Extras section—Picross S4 will come with two 30-by-30 Picross puzzles to solve, with an additional three unlocked for having play data from Picross S1, S2, and S3.
With nearly 500 grids to dig into, that's a lot of Picross to play. It's a pretty straightforward Picross game, but this is also a puzzle format that never seems to go out of style. Jupiter has released a number of themed Picross games alongside its S series for the Switch, and others have finally started to jump on too.
Most recently, Mediatonic released Murder By Numbers, a surprisingly strong detective story with a strong serving of Picross. If we're not getting a new 3D Picross anytime soon, maybe other studios will look to do their own take on it.
Still, it's always fun to get these little blasts of new Picross to play. Jupiter has a habit of announcing a new Picross and launching it soon after, so now I'll have something to chill out with as I continue binging TV shows and staying indoors.
