Mortal Kombat 11 Leak Points To More Guest Characters as DLC

Mortal Kombat 11 Leak Points To More Guest Characters as DLC

The Switch version reveals who may be joining the Fatality party.

Mortal Kombat 11 has one more day before it's officially released, but some fans have already picked up a copy. One intrepid fan with the Nintendo Switch version of the game dived into the code, looking for hooks for future interesting content. Within that code, they found what appears to be a list of planned fighters for downloadable content.

Reddit user LeoNatan posted their findings in one thread, which were confirmed by other players. The full list of DLC characters includes the previously-announced Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, Fujin, and Sheeva, alongside multimedia guest fighters like DC Comics' The Joker, the Terminator, Spawn, and Ash from Army of Darkness.

Guest characters are nothing new for Netherrealm Studios fighters. Injustice 2 featured Hellboy and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Mortal Kombat X added Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees, the Predator, the Alien, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre's Leatherface. With those additions, The Terminator, Spawn, and Ash fit right in. One question remains: will the Joker be based on his appearance in Injustice 2, or the upcoming film starring Joaquin Phoenix?

The Kombat Pack that comes with the Premium Edition of Mortal Kombat 11 only offers access to six fighters, so it's likely that there will be a second Kombat Pack announced. Injustice 2 ultimately had three Fighter Packs with three characters each, while Mortal Kombat X offered two Kombat Packs with four fighters each.

Mortal Kombat 11 is coming out for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC tomorrow, April 23, 2019. You can check out our review of the game right now if you're curious.
