Mortal Kombat 11 Launch Trailer Goes Full Nostalgia With Remixed Theme Music

Hey! I recognize this song.

Mortal Kombat 11 is a week away, and NetherRealms Studio has released a new launch trailer that leans heavily on the time-traveling, nostalgia theme of the latest fighting game entry. It even includes a version of the "Mortal Kombat" theme from the live-action films.

Time travel is a big aspect of Mortal Kombat 11. The villain, Kronika, has abilities that revolve around time and it's ending up creating a whole bunch of time travel shenanigans. Older characters are meeting their younger selves, and generations of family members are fighting alongside one another.

There are 29 characters scheduled to be in Mortal Kombat 11 at launch, and eight characters are still unannounced. Mortal Kombat 11 director Ed Boon has said that this year's Mortal Kombat game will be leaning towards fan favorites for the roster, and it shows with characters like Noob Saibot and Jade.

NetherRealms also released a Nintendo Switch trailer for Mortal Kombat 11 earlier this week that shows the fighting game run surprisingly well on Nintendo's handheld console. Though we already knew that from our hands-on time with Mortal Kombat 11 Switch.

Mortal Kombat 11 is scheduled to come out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on April 23. Check out our Mortal Kombat 11 guide for trailers, announced characters, previews, and more.
