Netflix's The Witcher Shows Off Roach, Who Doesn't Seem To Glitch Onto Roofs This Time

Yup, that's a horse alright.

We've seen Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri, but finally we have our first glimpse of one of the characters most critical to Geralt's journey in The Witcher. This morning, Netflix took to Twitter to show us the one and only Roach, in all his Roach-y glory.

If you're not a Witcher fan, Roach is the name Geralt of Rivia always gives to his horse. He usually prefers mares, and while the horse barely appears in the first two Witcher games, it is a prominent sidekick to all of Geralt's activities in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

So here is Roach, who is certainly a horse. It is kind of a gag to do a big reveal around Roach, but again, it's a horse that is much beloved by fans, especially for Wild Hunt. The way the horse would randomly end up spawned on top of random landscapes, terrain, and architecture even led the artists for the Witcher card game Gwent to depict a puzzling Roach conundrum on the horse's card art.

Netflix's The Witcher is set to air this fall, and it's likely to depict more of Geralt of Rivia's early activities from the books than anything later on in the games. And while initial looks at Henry Cavill's Geralt were certainly unflattering, more recent promo shots of Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri are much more promising. Also, yes, we'll learn why Geralt in these shots is only carrying one sword like his book portrayal, rather than the two-sword look from the games. All signs are pointing to an, if nothing else, interesting portrayal of The Witcher for a Netflix audience. Here's hoping it sticks the landing.
