A trailer for the new Battletoads game premiered today at Xbox's E3 showcase. The spiritual successor to the brutal cult classic was announced at last year's E3, and while there was no release date shown, we can at least get a glimpse of what the new Battletoads looks like.
Several facets of classic Battletoads, including the original toads, were featured in the trailer. Also returning are the infamous bikes, albeit from a behind-the-back perspective and throttling down a few different tunnels.
Battletoads was announced at last year's E3, though it's unclear whether this is a sequel or a re-imagining of the original. The cel-shaded art style gives all the action a new look, but we'll know more as details emerge.
Battletoads is reknowned for its incredible difficulty, especially the demanding bike levels. It made for a fun inclusion in Rare Replay, but we haven't seen much else of the series. It'll be interesting to see what a new take on the Battletoads turns out to be.
