New Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Trailer Highlights “Voyage of Despair” and “IX” Missions
Zombie tigers, a magic staff, and underwater combat all feature.
Activision has released a brand new trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 Zombies. It focuses on two of the three missions that will be available at launch: the gladiator romp “IX”, and the Titanic-with-zombies thriller “Voyage of Despair”.
You can check out the trailer below, which is titled “Chaos Story”. It follows one of the four lead characters, Scarlett, as she and her team fight their way from the zombie-infested Titanic, to a bustling gladiator arena. The trailer shows off some new gameplay, namely the way melee weapons will work in the game. The “IX” mission in particular, appears to focus heavily on hand to hand combat, with shields, swords and spears all shown.
Developer Treyarch is leaning heavily into Zombies mode for Black Ops 4, presumably to make up for the game’s lack of a proper single-player campaign. There will be three missions at launch: “IX”, “Voyage of Despair”, and “Blood of the Dead”. Each will have its own distinct setting, weapons and storyline, though the four main characters will be the same for all of them.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 will release October 12 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will return the series to 100% boots on the ground combat, which means no wall-running, jetpacks or crazy aerial skills. The game will feature a battle royale mode called Blackout, which will see 100 players using CoD vehicles, weapons and characters to battle it out for supremacy. An Open Beta for multiplayer will begin on August 3 for PS4 players, and then the following weekend for PC and Xbox players. A Blackout Beta will come in September.
