New Countdown Timer Appears on Fortnite on Switch, but No One Knows What It's For

Could the Switch version of Fortnite be getting some exclusive content or we are getting a tease for Season 5?

A brand new countdown timer has appeared within Fortnite Battle Royale on the Nintendo Switch. But what could it be counting down to?

Back on June 16, the tweet just below signalled that a brand new countdown timer had kicked off within Fortnite Battle Royale. But this was only for the Nintendo Switch version of the game. As for other versions of the game, players on PS4 and Xbox One have reported seeing a skull around the Snobby Shores area of the map.

But what could this countdown timer mean? In the past, Epic has used tactics like this to tease the arrival of new content coming to Battle Royale, like the comet that signalled the arrival of Season 4. But the countdown timer is set to expire tomorrow on Tuesday, June 19, which isn't a significant day in the Battle Royale calendar for any reason.

Season 5 of Fortnite Battle Royale isn't set to kick off for at least another two weeks, and and latest Season 4 weekly challenges won't be going live until Thursday this week. Since the countdown timer is exclusively for the Switch version of Battle Royale, Nintendo players could be getting some exclusive content, if we were to speculate what the timer is counting down to, but there is a chance it's related to Season 5.

Speaking of weekly challenges for Fortnite, you can check out the complete list of Fortnite Week 8 Challenges, which are all set to go live on Thursday, later this week.
