Yes, the New Female Lombax in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Will Be Playable

Just in case there was any confusion.

When Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart debuted at the PS5 games showcase event early last month, it was one of the headliners of the show. But one of the standout moments of the reveal was a brand new character, who developer Insomniac has now confirmed will be playable in the sequel when it launches next year.

The announcement comes through the official Insomniac Games Twitter account. "Play as Ratchet AND a mysterious new female Lombax from another dimension," the tweet reads.

If you missed the reveal of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart last week, this mysterious new character popped up in the closing seconds of the trailer. We saw Ratchet and Clank travelling through multiple mysterious dimensions, and after getting split up and sent through more fractures in time, Clank turns to address Ratchet. But it's not Ratchet that's stood there, but this intriguing newcomer instead.

There's been an outpouring of adoration for the design of the new female Lombax character since she was revealed last week. While Ratchet & Clank's new game arguably stole the show that was filled with hits like the Demon's Souls remake, Deathloop, Spider-Man: Miles Morales and more, this loveable new character might have flown under the radar as one of the more pleasant surprises at the showcase.

If there was ever any doubt that this character would be playable in Rift Apart when it launches, Insomniac has now cast all that doubt aside. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launches in 2021, exclusively for the PS5.
