New Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trailer Gives us HD Don Corneo

Say hello to the Don, President Shinra, and more.

Square Enix has shown off a lot more of the first installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake over the past year, and the game's new Tokyo Games Show 2019 trailer focuses on the memorable villains we'll be facing down in Midgar again early next year.

The trailer mixes cutscenes featuring characters like Reno, Rude, Tseng, President Shinra, and more in alongside brief gameplay segments. We also catch a glimpse of Tifa and Aerith encouraging Cloud to go along with Don Corneo's cross-dressing request outside of the Honey Bee Inn, a sequence from the original game that FF7 Remake director Tetsuya Nomura has previously said will be modernized in the new release.

Along with the introductions to the Shinra baddies, the trailer squeezes in a few tantalizing glimpses of non-standard gameplay: Cloud and Aerith carefully edging their way around a rooftop ledge, Tifa crossing a cavernous gap with some monkey bar skills, a game of darts, strength minigames at the gym, and so on.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake will finally debut for the PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020. Square Enix has previously said the game will be playable in some form on the next PlayStation console as well. The FF7 story is still going to be broken up into multiple episodic releases for the remake, but Nomura and Square Enix have stressed that this first installment will be like a full game in its own right.
