Legit Looking Harry Potter Game Leaked, Shows Character Customization and Killing
Doesn't look riddikulus.
Well, no one saw this coming. Footage of a supposed Harry Potter game has leaked online, showing a wizarding world where murdering goblins is fine, apparently.
Just below, you can see the supposed footage of the Harry Potter game, which at the time is entirely unconfirmed. We can see character customization for your witch or wizard in the footage, as well as fights with goblins, trolls, and other wizards. If this is a fake, it's one of the best we've ever seen.
Update: The below video has now been taken down by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on copyright grounds. Versions are available elsewhere.
It certainly looks like this is a combat-orientated game, from the leaked footage above. We can see magic being used to rebuild pathways and bridges, as well as collapsing a ceiling on a group of goblins. The owl at the end with a letter seems to indicate that this Harry Potter game will take place at Hogwarts, seeing as owls deliver Hogwarts acceptance letters.
In April 2017, it was noted that Avalanche Software (the Disney Infinity devs, not the Rage 2 team), was hiring for a new project. The description of the position reads "Warner Bros. Games Inc. seeks a Senior Writer for the Avalanche Story department. We are looking for a talented storyteller with a deep understanding of British culture and grammatical presentation. Applicants should be creative self-motivated problem solvers who enjoy collaborating with other writers and designers to create an immersive game narrative."
Avalanche Software has historically worked on licensed titles aimed at the children's market, producing Toy Story, Cars, and Disney Infinity games. The studio was acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment in January 2017, so the job posting does seem to fit with a Harry Potter title.
We've reached out to Warner Bros. for comment. Let us know what you think of the leaked Harry Potter game footage in the comments. Image sourced from Pottermore.
