The future of Resident Evil is ultimately anyone's guess. Will Capcom continue remaking old games in the same vein as the excellent Resident Evil 2, or will they make entirely new entries like Resident Evil 7? It looks like we might be finding out more next month.
There's now a new teaser website for something called "Project Resistance." On this teaser site, it's revealed that there'll be a trailer to formally unveil the new game, whatever it may be, on September 9.
Additionally, the Project Resistance site reveals that the new game will be shown off at Capcom's Tokyo Game Show 2019 booth. "Come to the booth's stage to see members of the development team show off gameplay!" the website text reads.
At the very bottom of the Project Resistance teaser site, there's a note that Tokyo Game Show 2019 attendees will be able to play Project Resistance, but only by registering in advance, and this is only available for residents of Japan.
So, what could Project Resistance be? A new Resident Evil game set in the first-person state of Resident Evil 7, or a remake of one of Capcom's older entries?
