NHL 19 Open Beta Details Revealed, Now Live on PS4 and Xbox One

Download the NHL 19 beta and start shredding the ice.

The beta for NHL 19 is now live. Players can download the open beta on the Xbox Marketplace and PlayStation Store. The beta will last from today, July 26 to August 2.

The beta will let players experience The World of CHEL, which is the next version of the EA Sports Hockey League mode. Players can create a custom character and advance in a unified progression and customization system. Players can try out the new NHL Ones game mode, a 1v1v1 free-for-all mode, or try out NHL Threes Drop In, EASHL Drop-In, Clubs Mode, and Online Versus using the 31 current NHL teams.

The beta character customization offers 15 different traits, 21 different specializations, plus six traits and nine specializations for goalies. You can even unlock items in the beta like cosmetic wear including hoodies, jackets, parkas, and knits.

EA is advertising the Real Player Motion Technology powering NHL 19 which players can see in action in the beta. It apparently pushes the realism of NHL 19 to a new level. We got some hands-on time with NHL 19 in June and from what we saw, were ready to say NHL 19 might be EA's best sports sim.

Players in the beta can submit feedback to EA at this official page. Check out our interview with NHL 19 creative director William Ho about the new NHL 19 and how it's important to attract recreational fans not into the NHL (hence the new outdoor modes). Also check out our NHL 19 guide with release info, trailers, and news. NHL 19 is coming to Xbox One and PS4 on September 14.
