You know a character customization system is good when social media and Reddit gets flooded with creatures spawned from hell. With the release of Soulcalibur 6 today, its own twist on a character creator—called create-a-soul—is no exception. People are making some truly horrific beings using its fighter creator. So if you've ever wanted to see Swole Pikachu go toe to toe with Geralt of Rivia, then Soulcalibur 6's customized character database has your back.
We've stumbled across so many excellent characters that we thought it'd be a great idea to highlight some of our favorites we've seen. If you're curious about Soulcalibur 6 in general, then you can check out our full review of the new fighting game. If you're just curious about what characters people are cooking up, then keep on scrollin'.
Associate editor Suriel Vazquez at Game Informer spotted one of the most captivating characters I've ever laid my two eyes on: Buff As Hell Pikachu. As joked about, maybe this is the true form of Ryan Reynolds' Detective Pikachu in the upcoming live action movie. Or maybe it isn't. In any case, this Pikachu is as if Pikachu fell through a wormhole, and emerged in the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure universe: buff, ready to pose, and looking fabulous. Regardless of the nightmares I'll probably have tonight, I still love Soulcalibur 6 Pikachu.
If Link from The Legend of Zelda series decided to adopt a GTL mentality—that is Gym, Tan, Laundry—he may look something like this (minus the tan part). Surprisingly, this Link looks something like mega-adult Link; as if Ocarina of Time had a third part where you play as Even Older Link. That's what I imagine this Soulcalibur 6 character created version is: Older Link, But Not Too Old.
When you think of Soulcalibur, you normally don't think of beautiful butterflies. Somehow, this created character defies the odds. This half-man, half-butterfly person is not only colorful, but muscular too. You don't want to mess with this hunk.
The above video clip, as highlighted by our friends over at VG247, is definitely NSFW (Not Safe For Work). So if you consider yourself free of leering eyes that will think you stumbled on the grossest tab of PornHub, then click play on the above video. You'll discover that some soul in the world has created Lizardman… with a giant dong. That's right: a big ol' dick. As my co-worker Nadia Oxford noted in our Slack channel, this creature is not even anatomically correct, as Lizardman is a reptile and not a mammal. Looks like someone needs to go back to Biology 101!
Rocco Botte of the internet comedy group Mega64 recently showed off his own customized character in a new Bandai Namco promotional video. Botte firmly establishes his character Jorgo's tragic backstory, who is probably the only Soulcalibur 6 character in or out of canon that was raised by gnats (which is why Jorgo wears no clothes). Jorgo is also, according to Botte, the only character to ever wield two blades, making him much more powerful and intimidating than all the other Soulcalibur characters across the series who also wield two weapons. All hail Jorgo.
This Bowsette furthers the argument that Nintendo needs to start taking very seriously: put Bowsette in Smash.
I've seen a few players make the Marvel villain Thanos in my research, but this one I stumbled on by redditor BenIsGoodBoy is one of the most impressive. While this Thanos is not as blocky (yes, Thanos definitely has a cubelike figure), he comes with the most important feature of all: a snap move. Yes, Thanos retains his snap. If you've seen Avengers: Infinity War, you know how troubling that snap can be, and it is not wasted here.

Good ol' Mike Williams, the steward of reviews here at USgamer, shared his own Soulcalibur 6 character last night. As per Mike's usual method, he always makes himself, complete with glasses. As most games only have sunglasses as an option, we're left with Cool Mike. His character here, wearing Voldo's outfit, is, uh, interesting.
Creating characters has proven to be the most popular part of Soulcalibur 6 upon its launch. Just browsing its subreddit, Twitter, and any other platform where people share things, fans are pretty much exclusively posting about the characters they make, whether they're monsters or reimaginings of popular characters from other games, anime, and so on. It's already proven to be a pretty excellent character creator, even if it did give us Nightmare Swole Pikachu.
