Nintendo Releases Tons of Wallpapers to Brighten Up Your Zoom Calls

The viral Apocalypse just got a little more cheerful.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown has caused a major uptick in the use of Zoom and other conferencing software. Zoom is particularly popular for virtual meetings thanks to the option to set a wallpaper as your background. And Nintendo wants to help dress up your Zoom calls with some Nintendo-themed wallpapers spanning multiple series.

Nintendo shared the link to the wallpapers earlier today, which you can find on its site. There are wallpapers for Luigi's Mansion 3, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and tons more. Needless to say, the selection also includes four Animal Crossing: New Horizons wallpapers: one of Nook welcoming you to the island, one of Timmy and Tommy at the airport, one plain shot of the town hall, and another plain shot of Isabelle's desk, sans Isabelle. The latter two are good picks for Zoom wallpapers. It's not a good idea to stare at Tom Nook's half-lidded eyes through a two-hour meeting. That way lies death.

Of course, these wallpapers double nicely as decoration for your desktop or laptop computer. How do you display wallpapers? Do you change them often? Do you rotate a selection via the slideshow option? Or do you hang on to the same wallpaper of The Saddest Khajiit across four years, like me?

Things have been rough with the quarantine, and there's a chance you feel a little lonely despite Zoom calls featuring cool Nintendo backgrounds. We here at USgamer recently wrote several articles celebrating how games bring us together. Reading them might warm your chilly heart.

Sometimes we include links to online retail stores. If you click on one and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. See our terms & conditions.
