Nintendo Switch Online Getting Four More SNES Games After Long Wait, Including the Once Lost Star Fox 2

Crystalis is also on its way to the NES version of the service.

In what might be a nice coincidence for Nintendo, six new games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online, just as the heat was starting to be turned up again regarding the service's relative lack of content.

Three of the SNES games are currently available on the Super NES Classic. The fourth is an RPG classic from Capcom. They include:

  • Star Fox 2
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Breath of Fire 2

In addition, Journey to Silius and Crystalis will be available on NES Classic. Crystalis in particular stands out as a beloved cult action RPG that had largely been lost to history before now.

As for the SNES games, Kirby Super Star is a neat collection of minigames that should translate very well to portable, and Star Fox 2 was unreleased until very recently. We reviewed both of them during the run up to the launch of the SNES Classic in 2017.

All six games are available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. We delved into some of the service's ongoing problems back in August, which you can read about here.
