Buying and playing video games is easy as pie in this incredible age. Want to purchase the latest cool title and enjoy it with your friends? Just go online. Pants are optional.
Sadly, even this miraculous convenience comes with an occasional hiccup in the form of server maintenance. Nintendo is doing some road repair on its own servers for the Switch and the eShop, and that means downtime.
The longest outage, during which maintenance will be performed on network services, starts today and ends first thing tomorrow. That's February 21 from 8:50 a.m. PT through February 22 12:00 a.m PT. Nintendo warns "some network services will be unavailable" during this stretch, so don't count on being able to scratch up a game of Splatoon 2 for a day or so.
More maintenance is happening on Monday, February 26. From 5 p.m. PT through 7 p.m. PT you probably won't be able to make purchases with a credit card on the Nintendo eShop. The outage will apply regardless of whether you access the eShop through the Switch's storefront, or via the web.
Gather up what you need before the outage, or just go ahead and enjoy some good single-player games for a bit.
