Nintendo's Closing Out 2020 With Another Indie World Showcase

Nintendo's Closing Out 2020 With Another Indie World Showcase

Break out your holiday wishlist and hope for some surprise releases.

Thought we were finally done with all the new releases this year? Well, we might be more or less done, but with another Nintendo Indie World showcase now announced for this week, there's also a good chance we could get hit with a surprise release or two on Switch before we've even gone on vacation.

Nintendo announced the new showcase this morning, and many of you reading this will probably be watching it with your morning coffee in-hand. It'll premiere tomorrow, Dec. 15, on Nintendo's official YouTube channel at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET.

So far, there haven't been any big hints dropped as to what we'll be seeing on tomorrow's showcase. On Twitter, a lot of the initial hype and speculation is revolving around Team Cherry's Hollow Knight: Silksong, but that's simply because we've not heard about it in a good while. Sometimes folks have just got to believe, you know?

It's almost assuredly the case that the show will mostly be centered on games that are aiming to come out sometime next year. Already, the most recent Indie World gave us a look at a few planned 2021 debuts including a port of Subnautica, the incredibly charming Bear & Breakfast, and a slick poker-cheat game called Card Shark.

As for what I'm personally hoping for, I really would like to see more of Axiom Verge 2, which was first revealed at an Indie World Showcase a year ago. Tom Happ's confirmed that the game won't be coming out till next year, but I bet you there's enough mystery to explore in its world that he can get away with showing off just a bit more. Please, Tom, it's the only thing I asked for in my letter to the North Pole this year.
