Nioh 2 Will Get Three DLC Expansions After Launch

A brand new story trailer is here.

Nioh 2 launches in less than two months, and now there's a new story trailer for Team Ninja's sequel. Aside from the new trailer, the developer also outlined post-launch DLC plans for the sequel.

There'll be three DLC expansions for Nioh 2, just like there were for the original game. Team Ninja revealed on the PlayStation Blog that all three DLC packs will take place before the events of the main game, with "new weapons, new combat abilities, and new characters." You'll get all three expansions included with Nioh 2's Season Pass.

Speaking of the events of the main game, Nioh 2 takes place in the Warring States period of Japan in 1555, roughly 45 years before the events of the first game. Like the original Nioh, demonic Yokai have once again infested the land in the aftermath of war in Nioh 2.

You'll journey to retain control of your own Yokai in Nioh 2. A big feature of the sequel is the ability to turn into one of the demonic creatures for a very limited amount of time, and so the plot of the sequel will revolve around the demons themselves.

Back during Nioh 2's open beta in November 2019, players found it particularly difficulty to turn into one of the Yokai. There was so much trouble with the feature, that Team Ninja stated through a PlayStation Blog post that the final game would have better tutorials on the feature.

Nioh 2 launches on May 24, for PS4. You can read our thoughts from the beta period that took place late last year, a glimpse into the hectic and brutal action to come later this year.
