NPD: Mortal Kombat 11 Is Now the Bestselling Game of 2019 So Far

Mortal Kombat scores a second win.

The video game sales numbers are out for the month of May, courtesy of NPD, and Mortal Kombat 11 once again takes the top spot as the month's bestselling game. NetherRealm's fighting game has now become the bestselling game of the year so far.

May 2019 recorded the lowest sales in video game software for a May month since 2013. Sales are down 13 percent from a year ago and saw the lowest sales for a new release in a May month since 1998.

This allowed Mortal Kombat 11, which was April's bestselling game, to stay on top of the board as the top-selling game of the month followed by Days Gone. Mortal Kombat 11, Kingdom Hearts 3, The Division 2, Anthem, and Resident Evil 2 are now the bestselling games of the year so far.
