Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition Headlines New Batch of Games Hitting Xbox Game Pass

It's a good month for Definitive Editions.

It's a new month, and that means new games coming to Xbox Game Pass. This month's offerings are especially interesting though, headlined by some Definitive Editions of some classics.

Starting on Oct. 15, several games are coming to Xbox Game Pass. Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition leads the pack, alongside Heave Ho, Katana Zero, Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, and The Swords of Ditto: Mormo's Curse. ScourgeBringer arrives on Oct. 21, while Cricket 19 and Supraland hit on Oct. 22.

Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition is a new revision of the original, upgrading its graphics and adding new content like a few civilizations. It already worked well with Age of Empires 2's Definitive Edition, and for those nostalgic for Age of Empire 3's particular brand of expanding and conquering, it's probably worth a try.

My personal pick is Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition. I've not really hidden my penchant for the Tales Of series, and Vesperia is among my favorites. The Definitive Edition is also the version I frequently recommend to folks when they ask where to start with the series; the upgrades, both visual and in additional content, are very solid, and a free pass to play it on Game Pass seems ideal.

There are also a handful of interesting indies, including 2019's Katana Zero and Supraland, arriving on Game Pass that are worth checking out. As some games arrive though, others have to leave. Saints Row 4 Re-Elected and Metro 2033 Redux are among those leaving on Oct. 15, and on Oct. 30, several solid narrative games like After Party, Tacoma, and The Red Strings Club all leave Game Pass. It's worth it to dedicate a few evenings to playing these, trust me.
