Ooblets Hits Early Access This Summer

Farm and collect monster pals soon.

Glumberland's adorable monster-collecting life-sim Ooblets will finally be playable soon. The developer announced today that Ooblets will go into early access this summer for Xbox One and PC via Epic.

Shown during the PC Gaming Show 2020, the announcement came with a new trailer, highlighting the cheery and wonderful world of Ooblets. It has a little bit of everything: monster collecting, farm management, and everyday town life. Really, it's like a smorgasbord of coziness. This little slice-of-life sim has been in development for years and built up some eager anticipation. Sometimes, you just really want a chill game, and Ooblets looks really chill.

Developer Glumberland drew a lot of ire when it announced that Ooblets would be headed to the Epic Games Store. At the time, the developer said that launching on Epic took a "huge burden of uncertainty" off the studio's shoulders.

The added security didn't just alleviate financial burdens, but also gave the team more time to work on Ooblets. Back in 2017, Senior Editor Caty McCarthy called it kind of her "dream game," managing to blend the styles of Pokemon, Harvest Moon, and Animal Crossing all into one cohesive, cuddly package. "...I walked away from Ooblets on cloud nine; wishing child-me could see this now and what she would think," Caty wrote.

Hopefully we won't be waiting too long into the summer to see it for ourselves. Ooblets goes into early access on Xbox One Game Preview and PC via Epic Games Store sometime this summer.
