Outer Wilds Dark Bramble: How to Get Past the Angler Fish and Find Feldspar

Dark Bramble is one of the most mysterious locations you’ll visit in Outer Wilds. Here’s how to make your way to Feldspar.

While searching the cosmos for other adventurers in Outer Wilds, you’ll come across Dark Bramble. It’s a foggy mess of a place, filled with spiky vines and even spikier Angler Fish. It can be a nightmare to get through, especially if you don’t know the secret for getting past the Angler Fish. To make sure you get to Feldspar in one piece, we’ve put together this Outer Wilds Dark Bramble Walkthrough. We’ll take a look at how to get past the Angler Fish, and how to get to Feldspar.

How to Get Past the Angler Fish in Outer Wilds

Once you’ve arrived at Dark Bramble you’ll need to fly through the white hole of light to get in. Once inside, you’ll need to track Feldspar’s harmonica using your Signalscope. On your way though, you’ll be sharing a room with Angler Fish, which will not hesitate to seek you out and eat you if you’re not careful. Here’s how to get past the Angler Fish in Outer Wilds:

  • You’ll learn from the Angler Fish Fossil on Ember Twin that Angler Fish are in fact blind.
  • This means that as long as you are quiet, you can drift past them.
  • We recommend that for each new area you enter, boost into it and then let the momentum of your ship carry you.
  • You can also use your scout to distract them from afar, though this generally isn’t necessary.

Outer Wilds: How to Find Feldspar

Ah Feldspar, the fabled adventurer from Timber Hearth who has long been missing in action. You’ll find his signal popping up all over the place thanks to the space-bending properties of the Dark Bramble, though if you want to meet him in person you’ll have to head into the planet itself. First, fly up towards Dark Bramble.

If you equip your Signalscope, you’ll be able to track the signal of Feldspar’s harmonica. Enter the Dark Bramble via one of the openings.

Once inside, keep rocket propulsion to a minimum, or you’ll be eaten by Angler Fish. Drift towards the first signal and before entering the next Bramble, fire your scout inside. When you reach the new area, there will be three signals.

Head for the signal on the far left, but be seriously careful not to take your rockets over more than a level one firing power. Head inside the next Bramble.

Don’t be alarmed by the Angler Fish that greets you on the other side, it’s long-dead. Feldspar can be found inside the skull, having made camp there some time ago.

So What Can You Find at Feldspar’s Camp?

Other than finding Feldspar, the Dark Bramble camp actually hold an important secret regarding Giant’s Deep. You’ll find a jellyfish corpse in the back of the camp, and notes from Feldspar in its head cavity. You’ll learn that the jellyfish will insulate you from electricity, very useful for getting to the Giants Deep Core.
