Overwatch is Coming to the Nintendo Switch Next Month

The rumors were true, and the cavalry's here.

Blizzard's team-based hero shooter is shrinking down to portable size! Announced during today's Nintendo Direct, Overwatch is coming to the Nintendo Switch, and you won't have to wait long either; it drops on October 15, just under a month away.

Overwatch will be getting a few new touches, like motion controls for abilities like Junkrat's explosive tire ultimate. You'll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to play against others online, though.

The big news was already given away by a hastily posted, then deleted listing for a Nintendo Switch case bearing the Overwatch logo. Kotaku independently confirmed the news earlier today.

But while Nintendo and Blizzard missed their big shot at a shocking reveal, it's a partnership that makes sense. The wild success of porting Diablo 3 to the Nintendo hybrid console makes it not too surprising that Blizzard was eager to move more games over to the platform.
