True to its word, Blizzard Entertainment has launched the next Overwatch map, Oasis, for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 today. In its last developer update, Blizzard said the next Overwatch map would be coming "early next year" and they delivered pretty damn early. Oasis is meant for the Control gameplay mode, like the existing maps for Nepal, Lijang Tower, and Ilios. Both teams will have to dodge traffic and use the all-new jump pads to race to the control point and take it over.
"Researchers and academics from around the region came together to found a city dedicated to scientific progress without restraints-a monument to human ingenuity and invention. The city and its inhabitants are governed by the Ministries, a collection of brilliant minds who possess many secrets that have attracted the interest of powerful organizations from around the world," says Blizzard about the map's background lore.
Already fans are planning shenanigans with the moving car section of Oasis' map. Using Lucio to play Frogger, leaving Symmetra's teleporter on that section, or simply freezing an enemy in place with Mei; it's going to be rough out there in those streets.
You can see what else Blizzard is cooking up for Overwatch in the 2017 developer update.
