Overwatch Retribution Trailer Stars Blackwatch, Shows Off New Map and Skins

Blackwatch reporting for duty.

Blizzard has dropped the first trailer for Overwatch Retribution, the new event under the Overwatch Archives banner which explores episodes from earlier in the Overwatch history and lore.

The trailer was presented by Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan during tonight's Overwatch League halftime. The trailer begins with Gabriel Reyes being interrogated by Jack aka Soldier76 about the events of a recent Blackwatch mission in what looks to be a new Venice map. Check out the video below.

The Retribution event covers a covert Blackwatch mission of a team comprised of Reaper, Moira, Genji, and McCree in Venice, fighting against Talon. Something goes wrong and suddenly Talon agents are swarming the Blackwatch team as they have to fight their way out. Blizzard recently released a new comic that also covers that Blackwatch past.

Like the previous Overwatch Archive event, Overwatch Uprising, it is a PvE event where players fight against wave of AI enemies. What's more, Blizzard seems to have designed some unique enemies for this event including an assassin Omnic and an Omnic with two turrets on its arms.

There will also be an All Heroes mode but Kaplan said it will change each time to prevent repetition. The new map, Rialto, which comes with the PvE event will also be available as a PvP payload map as well, though first it will enter testing.

Reaper will get a new skin that will be from his Blackwatch past but goes deeper into his history than his existing Blackwatch outfit. And the trailer shows off Moira's Blackwatch outfit as well.

Overwatch Retribution will launch on April 10 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For more, you can check out our Overwatch Retribution guide for all the latest trailers, info, guides, and tips.
