Overwatch Year of the Pig Lunar New Year Event Start Date Revealed

Overwatch Year of the Pig Lunar New Year Event Start Date Revealed

The pig symbolizes a love of life and entertainment.

Overwatch's annual Lunar New Year event is back to celebrate the Year of the Pig. The Lunar New Year event begins on January 24, 2019 and Blizzard will be releasing a new skin everyday starting tomorrow to celebrate.

This is the third Lunar New Year event Overwatch has held since launch. The last two have celebrated the Year of the Rooster and the Year of the Dog, with Blizzard releasing a bevy of new skins and cosmetics on both occasions. There's also a capture the flag limited time event that's playable every Lunar New Year. Players compete to secure the enemy team's flag while the other team tries to do the same. Last year, Overwatch introduced a competitive variant that tracks wins for placement and introduced skill rating tiers.

Like in previous events, Blizzard will share one new skin on its various social channels, so keep an eye out on Overwatch's Twitter, Facebook, and other social media pages. A new one should be revealed everyday.

The last event in Overwatch was a mini-challenge event called Ana's Bastet Challenge. The LTE introduced a pseudo-battle pass where players could earn Ana's legendary Bastet skin simply by winning matches. No word on whether Overwatch will introduce something similar for the Year of the Pig legendary skins, or if they'll only be available through loot boxes like in previous years.
