Overwatch's Orisa "Will Go Live Later This Month" After More Testing

Blizzard Entertainment has to give Overwatch's latest tank a few more tweaks before setting her live.

With last week's announcement of Overwatch's latest character, Orisa, Blizzard launched the character on the game's Public Test Realm. Since then, players have been putting her through her paces, seeing if she is really a tank that stands up next to classic shield-wielder Reinhardt. The feedback on that matter hasn't been great, which is why Blizzard won't be releasing the character until later this month.

Move Over Reinhardt, There’s a New Protective Barrier-Wielding Tank in Town

"We're not releasing Orisa to the live servers tomorrow. We're still fixing bugs and evaluating feedback and stats," said Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan on the forums.

"Just to clarify, we're leaving Orisa on the PTR for a little while. We're getting great feedback and fixing a lot of issues. I know this feels a little longer than other PTR periods, but we think it will be for the better. We know how anxious you all are to have Orisa join your ranks... and she will soon... but most likely she will go live later in the month rather than this early," Kaplan offered in a follow-up post.

As it stands, Orisa's Protective Barrier is too easy to get around and her Fortify move allows her to survive a bit longer, but enemy players can simply outwait the duration. Further, Fortify doesn't protect her team. The character's best weapon is currently Halt, her second fire that allows a player to move enemies around the battlefield, like Zarya's Graviton Surge.

Kaplan said that the team was exploring changing Orisa's clip size, which seems like an odd focus, but we'll see how she turns out.
