Payday developer Overkill Software has been working on its own game adaptation of The Walking Dead since its announcement in May of this year. The title is now scheduled to hit PC and consoles in the Fall of 2018, but we haven't had much in the way of details. All we know is The Walking Dead will be a four-player cooperative multiplayer shooter, not unlike Payday, taking place in Washington, D.C. during the zombie outbreak.
Yesterday, the developer showed off the first playable character in the game. The character, Aiden, is shown listening to his voicemail prior to the outbreak, when we was an engineer or architect. Post-outbreak, he's just survivor wandering the nation's capital. Oddly enough, the trailer ends with Aiden actually calling the zombies to his position; while others may have issues with the zombie apocalypse, Aiden just looks like he wants to cut loose.
Like Left 2 Dead, there will be four unique survivors.
"In this test of strategy and endurance, players will band together with up to three friends on a variety of missions and raids, securing supplies and survivors to strengthen their base camp against the threat of both the dead and the living – by any means necessary," said parent studio Starbreeze in a press release. "Each playable character has their own special abilities, skill trees, squad roles, play styles and background stories."
