Persona 5 Scramble's Opening Movie Reveals a New Phantom Thief

A stylish new gunslinger joins the fray.

Over the weekend, Atlus debuted the opening cinematic for Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. It's an incredibly stylish opening movie, much like the original intro scene for Persona 5, and it appears to show a new Phantom Thief joining the team on this adventure.

Persona 5 Scramble is a hack-and-slash spin-off game developed by Atlus and Koei Tecmo, and buried in the opening movie below is a glimpse at what appears to be a brand new Phantom Thief. Around the one minute, 13 second mark in the scene below, you can see a mysterious new character firing dual pistols at three Shadows, the enemy type that will populate Persona 5 Scramble's world.

As of right now, we don't know for certain who's underneath this mysterious disguise. However the character's outfit certainly bears a resemblance to Zenkichi Hasegawa, a brand new character for Persona 5 Scramble. Hasegawa is said to be investigating the Phantom Thieves for another Metaverse-related crime, separate from the investigation conducted by Sae Niijima in the original Persona 5.

It's worth noting that this is the second new character to join the Phantom Thieves in Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. The other is Sophia, the child glimpsed in portions of the scene above with red hair. We don't know too much about Sophia yet, aside from the fact that Joker and co. will meet her in the Metaverse and eventually join forces with her.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers releases on February 20, 2020 for the Nintendo Switch and PS4. No release date has been set yet for the musou-style action game in the West. Keep up to date with all things Persona 5 Scramble in our need-to-know guide.
