Persona Franchise Tops 13 Million Sales, as Persona 4 PC Overtakes Persona 5 Scramble Sales

It's been a great few years for the Atlus series.

Atlus has today announced a bevy of sales milestones for the Persona franchise at large. The headline announcement is that the entire Persona franchise has surpassed 13 million total sales worldwide, a staggering feat for a once-niche series.

The news was announced in a press release by Atlus (and translated by Gematsu). There's updated sales figures for several Persona games that factor into the 13 million total sales figure, chiefly Persona 5 Royal topping 1.4 million sales worldwide, after it launched in Japan in 2019 and came westward earlier this year in March 2020.

Elsewhere, Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers, the musuo hack-and-slash spin-off developed by both Atlus and Koei Tecmo, surpassed 480,000 units sold on both the PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Sales of Persona 4 Golden on PC, which launched last month in June, beat this figure, selling a total of 500,000 units. But whereas the Persona 4 Golden PC port was a worldwide release, Persona 5 Scramble has yet to launch outside of Japan.

To top of all these announcements, there was a new celebratory artwork released by Shigenori Soejima. The longtime Atlus illustrator, who has worked on Persona 3, 4, and 5 among other projects like Catherine, usually provides artwork like this to thank fans for their support.

Atlus recently launched a survey in late June 2020 to gauge interest in Persona 3, shortly after the Persona 4 Golden PC port launched earlier in the same month. The survey included questions such as 'What do you like or dislike about Persona 3?' and 'Which title from the Persona 3 series did you play first?' While this undoubtedly isn't confirmation of a port similar to Persona 4 Golden's PC release, we can't help but hope this is on Atlus's radar after Persona 4 Golden's evident success on PC.
