Pink Mercy Skin Raises $12.7 Million for Charity

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation benefits from your love of Overwatch skins.

Back in May, Blizzard Entertainment released a limited-time Mercy skin, showing Overwatch's resident healer in a new pink outfit. The skin wasn't found in loot boxes though. Instead, players could pay $15 for it, with all of the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

According to Blizzard, sales of the skin and an associated t-shirt raised more than $12.7 million for the foundation. This stands as "the largest donation by a corporate partner within one year in BCRF’s 25-year history." So yeah, a Mercy skin was a good idea.

The leadership of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation came to Blizzard to accept the donation, complete with a giant check. Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan was there on hand to meet them. Good on you, Overwatch community, and your intense love of Pink Mercy.

If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
