Today during the Xbox @ Gamescom Live show, Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene announced that his game, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, has reached 8 million sold worldwide. Greene was at the show to address the upcoming launch of Battlegrounds on Xbox One, as part of the Xbox Game Preview program. Greene declined to give a final release date for the game on Xbox One, sticking to the "later this year" window.
Greene revealed that Microsoft Studios will be the publisher of the Xbox One version of the game. He noted that Microsoft is providing further resources to Bluehole to make the Xbox One version the best it can be and ensure the game hits the planned release window.
Developer Bluehole recently announced that they'd be slowing down the patch release schedule for the PC version. This should help with the Xbox One version, which theoretically will still have to submit patches to Microsoft for approval. The PC version of Battlegrounds is expected to receive vaulting, two new maps, and a new weather system before the game's full launch.
