Pokemon Gen 8 for Switch Not Coming Until 2019

The next mainline Pokemon RPG is still a year away.

At today's Pokemon press event in Japan, the Pokemon Company announced a handful of new titles including Pokemon Quest and Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee. However, neither of those two games are the mainline Pokemon titles coming to the Switch. Gen 8 still isn't coming to the Switch until 2019.

During the press event, Pokemon announced Pokemon Quest, an action RPG spinoff developed for Switch and mobile by GameFreak, as well as Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee for the Switch. Neither titles are Gen 8 RPG games.

The 2019 Pokemon game on the Switch is expected to be the next generation of Pokemon games following Pokemon Sun and Moon on 3DS. No details yet on what the next Gen 8 Pokemon title will be called, but at least we know when it's coming.

This is a developing story and we'll have more details as information becomes available.
