Team Rocket has been steadily invading Pokemon Go for the last couple of weeks, though it seems that they have officially arrived as of July 25. Professor Willow will contact you regarding some new Special Research themed around Team Rocket, research that is well worth your time to complete. To help you do so, we’ve put together a Pokemon Go A Team Rocket Research Guide. We’ll outline all of the steps you’ll need to complete, and the rewards you’ll get for completing them.

Pokemon Go: A Troubling Situation Research

There’s new Special Research to take on in Pokemon Go, and it revolves around everyone’s favorite black and red baddies. To beat Team Rocket you’ll need to complete the four steps involved in the A Troubling Situation Research. You’ll find details on each step below:

Step 1

For the first step of A Troubling Situation, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Evolve 2 Pokemon (Murkrow Encounter)
  • Power Up 5 Pokemon (Sableye Encounter)
  • Reward: 1,000 Stardust, 2,000 XP

Step 2

If you’ve made it this far in the Pokemon Go A Troubling Situation Research then it’s on to Step Two. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  • Catch 2 Shadow Pokemon (Koffing Encounter)
  • Defeat 3 Team Rocket Grunts (Ekans Encounter)
  • Reward: 2,000 Stardust, 2,000 XP, 5 Golden Razz Berries

Step 3

Onto Step 3 now. You’ll need to do the following to complete it and move onto the final phase:

  • Purify 3 Shadow Pokemon (3,000 Stardust)
  • Purify a Fire, Water or Grass Type Pokemon (3,000 XP)
  • Reward: 2,000 Stardust, 5 Silver Pinap Berries, 1 Rare Candy

Step 4

Now for Step 4. It’s as simple as collecting rewards for this one.

  • Claim Reward (1,000 Stardust)
  • Claim Reward (1,000 XP)
  • Claim Reward (1,000 Stardust)
  • Reward: 1 Fast TM, 1 Charged TM, 3 Rare Candies
