Pokemon Go Could Be Getting a Proper In-Game Story
Quest objectives, and animations for human characters.
Pokémon Go actually snuck what looks to be a new quest system with the game's most recent update.
According to an APK teardown over at the Silph Road subreddit, the Quest functionality received a major rework. Piecing together the metadata suggests that Pokémon Go will get Story Quests and an expanded list of objectives to 10, an increase from the original two.

Human characters like Professor Willow will also get animations and expressions, meaning that the cast including team leaders could all be given bigger roles.
Quest objectives appear to be fairly straightforward. Players will be expected to catch Pokémon, spin Pokéstops, walk a certain amount of steps, hatch the requisite egg, win a gym battle or two, pretty much the whole spectrum of actions available in Pokémon Go.
Other updates uncovered in the update include the option to search your Pokédex by "Shiny Pokémon," an overhauled News section, and an energy bar rework.
