Pokemon Sword and Shield's Isle of Armor DLC is Now Live

Travel to an all-new wild area today.

Throughout today, Pokemon players around the world have been collectively wondering when the new Isle of Armor DLC would go live for both Pokemon Sword and Shield. Nintendo has answered that question with a simple response: now.

The launch of the new DLC came during a Pokemon presentation today on June 17. Nintendo announced the Pokemon presentation just yesterday, to coincide with the launch of the Isle of Armor DLC for Sword and Shield. If you own the expansion pass for either Pokemon game, the Isle of Armor is open to be explored right now.

To kickstart the adventure to the Isle of Armor, you need only to head to one of the train stations in Pokemon Sword or Shield. From here, you'll receive a special announcement that a train is now departing for the new land, and all you need to do is purchase a ticket to the Isle of Armor, and you're good to go.

In case you weren't aware, the Isle of Armor is the first ever DLC launch for Pokemon in the history of the franchise. Pokemon games never had paid expansions before, opting instead to do re-releases of games a year or two after the initial release with more added content, like with Pokemon Sun and Moon.

The Isle of Armor is just the first DLC planned for Pokemon Sword and Shield. Later on this year, we're going to be heading to new horizons once again in the Frozen Tundra DLC, when it launches as part of the expansion pass later this year.
