Pokemon Sun and Moon Starter Evolutions Detailed, Demo Coming Oct 18

Here's a look at the new upgrades for your starting friend.

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Pokemon Sun and Moon, showing off evolutions of the three starter Pokemon and a host of new features.

The first up is the dapper Rowlet, who turns into the cowlick-sporting Dartrix. Fire Pokemon Litten evolves into Torracat, who's wearing a bell that's made of pure flame. Finally, Popplio changes into Brionne when it evolves, a dancing water Pokemon that wants to be a star!

Pokemon Sun and Moon will feature the Festival Plaza, a place where Pokemon Trainers from around the world can meet and mingle. You can connect with other Trainers, trade Pokemon, battle with them right from the Festival grounds. If you help out tourists, you'll earn Festival Coins, which you can use to buy dye for your clothes, bouncy houses for your Pokemon to train in, and deals on items. Ranking up by collecting Festival Coins also unlocks the ability to do co-op and global missions.

For the Pokemon you've stored in PC boxes, there's the all-new Poke Pelago. This is a series of islands where these Pokemon can go to explore or play with you in new activities. On Isle Abeens, you can attract wild Pokemon to join your game, while on Isle Aphun, your Pokemon can search for treasure. Isle Evelup is there for Pokemon training and leveling up. There are multiple islands to unlock, each with its own focus.

While Pokemon Sun and Moon have the all-new Z-Move system, that doesn't mean that Mega Evolutions are gone. All of the Pokemon that could Mega Evolve in Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, X, and Y can still do so in Sun and Moon! All that's required is the correct Mega Stone, which you can obtain from NPCs or shops in the game.

Finally, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company will be releasing a Special Demo for Pokemon Sun and Moon on October 18, 2016. The demo will be available on the eShop and players who download it gain access to Ash-Greninja, the special Pokemon from the current run of the animated series. Like its animated incarnation, Ash-Greninja has Battle Bond, making the Pokemon much stronger for a limited period of time.

Pokemon Sun and Moon will be releasing on 3DS on November 18, 2016.
