Pokemon Sword and Shield Direct Coming June 5
A Pokemon Direct heralds the unofficial start of E3's 2019 season.
Ready your PokeBalls and prepare to snag a livestreamed Nintendo Direct dedicated to Pokemon Sword and Shield on June 5. The 15-minute presentation will (presumably) be packed with information about the latest Pokémon title coming to the Nintendo Switch this year.
Nintendo sprang the surprise announcement on Twitter earlier today. I say "surprise" because the United States is celebrating Memorial Day and is too full of barbequed ribs and beer to sit down and report on the Direct. Hah! Well played, Nintendo! I…guess? Anyway, you all didn't count on the Canadian sitting all alone at her keyboard, did you?
Tune in on June 5 at 6 a.m. PT for roughly 15 minutes of new information on #PokemonSwordShield for #NintendoSwitch in a livestreamed Pokémon Direct presentation.https://t.co/d1Xx3bDbhq pic.twitter.com/sNypwrc09d

Nintendo's official site already has a place where you can sit down and wait for the show. You probably have a few chores you want to get done before then, though. Just make sure you check back in on June 5 at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET. This'll be the first major deluge of information about Pokemon Sword and Shield since its reveal in February. Even though we learned a lot about Sword and Shield during its unveiling—including its British-themed Galar Region and its three starters, Scorbunny, Grookey, and Sobble—there's still a heck of a lot to learn. It's going to be an informative fifteen minutes.
Interestingly, this Direct takes place about a week before Nintendo's dedicated E3 2019 Direct on June 11. If Nintendo is getting Pokemon "out of the way," what does it have planned for E3 (Cough Animal Crossing)?
