Project xCloud’s Preview Selection Makes Stadia’s Launch Lineup Look Tiny
Dozens of games are coming for testers of Microsoft's game streaming service.
On November 19, early adopters of Google Stadia will have just 12 games to pick from. For the launch of a brand new console, 12 new titles wouldn't be so bad, but most of Stadia's launch lineup is already out in the wild, as are most of the 14 other games coming between now and 2020.
Meanwhile, Microsoft's preview program for Project xCloud is growing. After launching last month with just four games (Gears 5, Halo 5: Guardians, Killer Instinct, and Sea of Thieves), at X019 Microsoft announced that it is expanding the xCloud preview library to over 50 titles, including Madden NFL 20, Forza Horizon 4, and Tekken 7.
It's a bit of an apples and oranges comparison considering that Google's just entering the games space now. Still, performance and bandwidth usage aside, variety is definitely important for selling consumers on the idea of game streaming.
Right now, the xCloud preview program is only available in select regions (America, United Kingdom, Korea) on compatible Android devices. Early next year, Microsoft will expand the preview program to Windows 10 PCs and to markets including Canada, Japan, Western Europe, and India. With the addition of xCloud on PC, Microsoft will also add support for non-Xbox controllers including the DualShock 4 and Razer Junglecat.
Here's the full list of titles being added to the Project xCloud preview program:
