PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds recently pushed its 1.0 update out to test servers. The update offers a number of changes to weapon ballistics and player damage, but also adds vaulting and climbing to the game. The test server version will only be live for 2 days, but players are already figuring out their new capabilities. Right now, it doesn't always work as intended.
Hidden in the test update is a hint at something else players have been waiting for: the game's second map. We've seen teases of the desert-themed map before, but now we have a look at the minimap for the new zone. The map comes care of dataminers, who posted their information on the PUBG subreddit. While the current map is an island, the new map looks to be bordered on a few sides by mountain ranges.
This isn't the first time a version of the map has leaked, but this does look to be closer to the final design, with actual place names. It's also in the style of PUBG's existing minimap, meaning this is likely the near-final version. Players are already trying to figure out where the locations PUBG creator Brendan Greene teased earlier this month are.
The team at our office in Madison have been working hard on our new desert map, and today I am excited to share some new WIP screenshots of this new terrain... pic.twitter.com/J2Dm21715p— PLAYERUNKNOWN (@PLAYERUNKNOWN) November 9, 2017

Dataminers have also surfaced models of new vehicles. Reddit user Art_7s found models for a jet ski, a minibus van, and a pickup truck in the game. It'll be interesting to see if these vehicles are only for the new map, or if some of them will find their way back to PUBG's first map.
PUBG is planned for launch on the Xbox One via the Xbox Game Preview program on December 12, 2017. With 1.0 on the test server, it's likely that we'll see that patch around the same time on PC. PUBG is currently sitting at 20 million copies sold ahead of a full launch.
