Id Software's annual celebration, QuakeCon, just announced dates for the event as well as the theme. And fans better prepare for hell as id is labeling this year's event as QuakeCon: Year of Doom.
As the name suggests, Doom Eternal will be a big focus of this year's event in Dallas, Texas. The four-day event will celebrate Doom's 25th anniversary with a series of activities including "events, exclusives, developer panels, hands-on demos, new information about Doom Eternal, and a few surprises we're not ready to talk about," says QuakeCon organizers.
Quake will still factor into the show (it is called QuakeCon after all), but it's clear from the name that this is a big blowout for Doom. The newest game in the series, Doom Eternal, had its first gameplay footage shown at last year's QuakeCon and will be coming out sometime in 2019 for consoles, PC, and Google Stadia.
As always, expect to hear about more info on other id games at the event despite the Doom moniker. QuakeCon will be taking place at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Dallas, Texas from July 25 to 28. You can register starting on April 11 at the official QuakeCon website.
