Rage 2's Latest Trailer Spotlights Deadliest Enemies of All: Barrels and Buffalo

Also, cliffs. The cliffs are out to kill you stone dead.

As Rage 2's release date draws closer, Avalanche Studios and id Software want to assure you of one fact: Everything in this game's neon-streaked open-world is out to kill you. The latest trailer for the game even provides you with a handy-dandy list of Things That Want to Murder You.

The new trailer, which is fresh and new as of this bright morning, names potential killers that range from typical (bloodthirsty punks, angry mutants) to weird ("Death Convoys," invisible Samurai cyborgs), to adversaries so terrifying, we risk everything by giving voice to their names (buffalo, barrels).

Though Rage 2 appears to follow up directly on 2011's Rage, the two games are tonally different. Both take place in a world where an asteroid strike has turned civilization, law, and order into dust, and both involve militant groups hell-bent on acquiring nanotechnology in the possession of each game's protagonist. However, Rage 2 is seemingly not interested in taking itself very seriously. While the new trailer still shows off a dusty, desolate world, gang members parade around with neon mohawks and cyborgs glow in all kinds of florescent colors. Also, Rage 2's hero is seemingly dealing with the whole "everyone is out to kill me" thing by gibbering a lot of half-insane wisecracks.

Rage 2 comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 14. We already have a primer on everything you need to know about the game so far, and you can count on us to help you survive the wasteland with guides and tips when the time comes.
