Just yesterday, we got our first extended gameplay demo for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart at the Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase. Now, developer Insomniac has revealed that you'll be able to play the game at 60 frames per second on the PS5.
The news was first reported in an interview between Insomniac and Famitsu Weekly (which Insomniac later confirmed on Twitter). There's no confirmation as to whether you'll have to sacrifice 4K visual fidelity to get Rift Apart running at 60FPS.
The list of games to feature a 60FPS option so far includes Bluepoint's Demon's Souls remake and Insomniac's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. We know that Insomniac's Miles Morales will be able to run in both 4K visuals while also supporting 60FPS, but we don't yet know if this is also the case for Demon's Souls or Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
The extended look at Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart yesterday really sold me on it being one of the standout games to look forward to in the next console generation. Seeing Ratchet and Clank zip through multiple words seamlessly was really impressive, even if we do know little about that enigmatic female Lombax character.
Insomniac is being a bit coy with Ratchet & Clank's release date on the PS5 right now. The developer touted that the game would arrive within the PS5's "launch window," but this could well mean that Insomniac's game ends up launching in early 2021, even if the next-gen console itself still launches in late 2020.
