Red Dead Online Beta Gets a Capture The Flag-Style PvP Mode

A new Showdown mode called Plunder arrives.

Red Dead Online's new weekly update is live, and it includes a new Showdown Mode called "Plunder." This allows up to 16 players to team up in a capture the flag-style PvP mode.

The big new update for the Red Dead Online beta this week is a new Showdown Mode call Plunder. With the wild west being the wild west and all, supplies are short. So in Plunder, teams need to work together to capture supplies from a central location and return them to your respective bases.

Like similar capture the flag modes, players holding the supplies will be visible to everyone, and your hands will likely be too full to do anything about all the enemies shooting at you. There are buffs via tonics which raise your health stamina, as well as team-based Dead Eye abilities that raise your allies' damage output, which will help give your teammates an edge whilst protecting you.

Rockstar Games also announced that there are some new outfits this week, including the Owanjila Hat, Porter Jacket, and Concho Pants. Furthermore, for a limited time, gear that's available up to rank 40 will be available to all players. Higher level gear like the Turkoman, Missouri Fox Trotter, and Arabian Horses will be lowered to Rank 40; while the Volatile Dynamite, Incendiary Buckshot, Explosive Slug, Express Explosive, and Dynamite Arrow will be lowered to Rank 60.
