Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on May 7. It'll only be available through Game Pass on Xbox One, however, and Rockstar's other game on the service, Grand Theft Auto 5, will be leaving the subscription service on the same day.
The news was revealed today over on Xbox Wire by Microsoft. Red Dead Redemption 2 isn't the first Rockstar game to be featured on Xbox Game Pass; GTA 5 was added to the subscription service back in January earlier this year.
However with the addition of Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5 will be leaving Xbox Game Pass on the very same day. You'll have until May 7 to play as much as you'd like of Grand Theft Auto 5 before it goes back to being a purchase-to-play game for Xbox Game Pass owners.
When Red Dead Redemption 2 first came out in 2018, it was certainly highly praised, placing at the very top on our eventual Game of the Year 2018 list. Mike scored it a 4.5/5, saying in his review that although "there's some occasional tedium in travel, and a few bugs and annoyances, nothing prevents Red Dead Redemption 2 from being an excellent game."
It would be roughly a year before Red Dead Redemption 2 eventually launched for PC near the end of 2019. This would be accompanied by Nadia writing an incredibly personal essay about the unique trauma she shares with the game. It's a truly special piece.
