Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly Error For PC Fixed
Here’s how to fix the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC error where it exits unexpectedly.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is finally in the hands of PC players, though there have been a few prevalent bugs that they’ve been experiencing. One such bug involves the game closing and the message ‘Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly’ appearing on screen. Here’s how to fix it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly Error Fix
Some PC players have reported a bug where the following message is shown after Red Dead Redemption 2 closes: ‘Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly. Please click Retry below to enter the game again, or click Safe Mode to launch the game with reduced graphics settings.’ To fix the error, try the following:
- If using an nvidia GPU, remove C:\Windows\System32\amdvlk64.dll from the system32 folder
- Disable Integrated Intel GPU
- Make sure you’re using updated drivers.

Will Loading Into Safe Mode Fix This?
Unfortunately, it seems that the option to load into Safe Mode that appears when the error pops up doesn’t fix things. You can Retry and head back into the game, though we recommend trying the fixes detailed above before doing so.
That’s all of the info we have so far on the Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly issue for PC. If you have any other fixes, be sure to sound off in the comments. If you’re looking for help with the game itself, check out our Guides Hub.
