Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly Error Fix

Some PC players have reported a bug where the following message is shown after Red Dead Redemption 2 closes: ‘Red Dead Redemption 2 Exited Unexpectedly. Please click Retry below to enter the game again, or click Safe Mode to launch the game with reduced graphics settings.’ To fix the error, try the following:

  1. If using an nvidia GPU, remove C:\Windows\System32\amdvlk64.dll from the system32 folder
  2. Disable Integrated Intel GPU
  3. Make sure you’re using updated drivers.

Will Loading Into Safe Mode Fix This?

Unfortunately, it seems that the option to load into Safe Mode that appears when the error pops up doesn’t fix things. You can Retry and head back into the game, though we recommend trying the fixes detailed above before doing so.
