Red Dead Redemption 2 May Have Timed-Exclusive Content for PS4
According to Red Dead Redemption 2's PSN store page.
It looks like Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to get some timed-exclusive content on PlayStation 4 when the game comes out in October. At least that's according to Red Dead Redemption 2's PSN pre-order page.
Rockstar announced Red Dead Redemption 2's pre-order bonuses today along with three different physical editions. But head on over to Red Dead Redemption 2's PlayStation Store page and you'll find a little notice for a PlayStation exclusive.
"Play select content first on PlayStation®4. Details to follow." We don't know what's coming just yet, but it's clear now that there will be content that will be available on PlayStation 4 first before they become available on the Xbox.
This isn't an uncommon practice, though whether it's beneficial for players is up for debate. Destiny and Destiny 2 both have timed exclusives with PlayStation, and those come in the form of early access to new maps. Similarly, Rise of the Tomb Raider was a timed Xbox One exclusive for a whole year after launch. Red Dead Redemption 2 is most likely going to be like Destiny and release select missions or content for PS players early.
Timed-exclusive has been a practice that's meant to prioritize one console version of a game over the other in lieu of actual console exclusives. But it's mostly become an inconvenience for players who enjoy multi-platform games, but prefer one hardware over the other.
